The Story
Crea en mí is a decade-long journey of artistic and spiritual refinement. Originally written in May 2016, the song underwent a rigorous three-month production phase in 2019 at 4849 Lefebvre Way in Antioch.
The track was first released on May 3, 2019, under the band name Radical & Intimate. However, as the music's mission evolved, it was removed from streaming platforms to allow for a season of rebranding. In 2026, it returns as the definitive launch of LUCHO. I believe this is bridging the gap between its foundational 2016 roots and a current era of high-fidelity, vertical artistry.
Why re-release this song now in 2026?
It was originally released in 2019 under a band name during a time when I was focused on a collective identity. I eventually realized that my personal mission needed its own lane to grow. I took the song down for three years to let the brand and the mission catch up to the music. Now, Radical and Intimate is established as the label, and I am stepping out as LUCHO. Radical & Intimate as a collective is still in the works, but that’s a story for another day.
How has the meaning of the song evolved since 2016?
I wrote this at 22 during a season of deep personal reflection. At the time, it was a cry for restoration. Over the last decade, it has transformed into a song of daily maintenance. It’s no longer about a single moment of repentance, but the daily prayer for a heart that lives for God every morning.
What was the production process like?
We spent three months tracking this project. Drums at our church and the rest in my bedroom. We were definitely committed to complementing the rawness and honesty of the lyrics with the sound, on a budget. This made us make some decisions and forego modern shortcuts like Auto-Tune.
In all honesty, we spent hours capturing the right performances to ensure everything felt human and present. I still laugh every time I hear the spontaneous part. There is a small chair squeak that stayed because the take was that perfect. We chose to keep it because it honors the reality of the season.
If this song were a meal, what would it be?
Carne Guisada. It’s a solid, soul-warming meal that actually tastes better when you let it sit and "reheat" it. Releasing this in 2026, after it’s been simmering for years, makes more sense now than it ever did before. 20/20 vision.
